Kicking off Christmas with cracking entertainment!

We kicked off the festive season with our first Christmas celebration aimed at bringing the community together!

Held at Irlam and Cadishead College (ICC) on Tuesday 6th December, we were joined by around 250 people to enjoy a programme of Christmas entertainment, provided by some of the really talented singers we have in this area.

The truly talented and diverse bill included: Manchester United Foundation (MUF) Choir, Irlam Male Voice Choir, and local singer-songwriter Jess Kemp, along with individual and group performances from students at the college.

The event also included the audience singing carols, as well as readings from Anne McArthur (HDT), John Sheils (MUF) and Craig Thomas (ICC).

Guests included community groups and volunteers who have unstintingly donated their time and skills to help make Irlam and Cadishead be the wonderful community-focused place that it is. And make it an even better place to live, work and enjoy.

Neil McArthur, HDT Chairman said: “This was a great way of bringing many different parts of the community together at Christmas for some festive cheer. Each choir and singer provided some smashing entertainment and we hope this will provide a memorable Christmas experience for everyone. We’d like to say a big thank you to all those who gave their time to entertain, and bring us all together. It’s down to them that we had a very happy time”.

We have been delighted with some of the feedback we have received following the event and here’s a snapshot:

“I would like to say a big thank you to the HDT team for arranging a really enjoyable Community Christmas Concert last night. Everybody I spoke to thoroughly enjoyed it, and Jess and the youngsters were brilliant. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all” Richard Gale, Irlam Male Voice Choir & Volunteer

“Thank you for the invite to last night’s Christmas Carol service. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I have to say, what a great idea!!” Jane Ravenscroft, Local Resident

“Thanks to all at HDT for a lovely Christmas celebration. The atmosphere was great and the Manchester United Foundation choir were so talented – their balance and tone was perfect!” Reverand Jane Wahurst

On behalf of Bill and myself can I compliment you and your team for a fantastic evening, it has made Christmas come to life. Thank you all!” Geoff Blackburn, Irlam and Cadishead Times

“It was an honour to be involved in the first ever HDT Christmas Celebration Event. I was made up when I was asked to come down and play as I felt it would be a great opportunity to show what I do.  Additionally, it was great to be able to play for Neil and everyone at HDT as a thank you for the support I received earlier in the year for my Amsterdam tour. I’m very excited to work with HDT again on any future events! Thanks for having me!” Jess Kemp, Local Singer-songwriter
