Regeneration - Hamilton Davies Trust

Hamilton Davies Trust, and the people within it, believe Irlam and Cadishead are great places to live, work and enjoy. But like anything in life there is always room for improvement. That’s why we’re working in partnership with Salford City Council and other key stakeholders, local businesses and volunteers to boost regeneration and enhance pride in the area. A major part of this are the improvements to the street scene, shared road space, trees and flowers, as well as the more significant projects such as: Irlam and Cadishead Leisure Centre; Irlam Station Heritage Hub and Station Park; Cadishead Rhinos; Rixton-with-Glazebrook Community Hall and more.

We are actively engaging with the community and have been providing grants since 2004 to those at grassroots level to improve local facilities and develop plans to enhance the area. We have a number of key projects underway which we believe are going to make a great difference to the way our area is perceived.

Liverpool Road – Cadishead (Phase 1)

From narrowing roads to planting trees and improving parking, this phase covered the approach to Cadishead Village.

Liverpool Road – Cadishead (Phase 1)

This phase covered the approach to Cadishead Village between the start of Liverpool Road to the Allenby Road Junction and was completed in 2013. The following street scene improvements were trialled and proved highly successful, giving people a view of what could be achieved.
- Roads were narrowed
- Trees and bulbs were planted
- Street parking improved
- Central reservation was put in
- An informal pedestrian crossing was created
- The footway was resurfaced
These improvements offered benefits such as:
- Slower vehicle speeds
- On street parking
- Safe and easy crossing points for pedestrians
- Better conditions for cyclists
- A more positive image of the area
Liverpool Road – Lower Irlam (Phase 2)

Covering the area between Fairhills Road and Station Road, the improvements will see narrowed roads and widened pavements as part of the plan.

Liverpool Road – Lower Irlam (Phase 2)

This latest phase has recently started in March 2014 and covers the area between Fairhills Road and Station Road. The improvements will include:
- The road will be narrowed
- Pavements widened
- There will be shared road space for traffic and pedestrians
- A 20 mile an hour zone will be enforced on this section of Liverpool Road
- About 50 trees will be planted
- Street parking improved
- Embankments landscaped
Local businesses have also agreed to have trees planted outside the shops and Lidl have agreed to landscape their car park area that fronts onto Liverpool Road.

This phase has been funded by a number of sources including HDT as we are working in partnership on such a big project. Watch this space for updates.
