Cadishead Rhinos rugby teams have seen a vast improvement in fitness this season thanks to a £2,750 HDT grant for gym equipment.

The club, which has U9, U11 and U13 teams, and has been active for about 20 years is now able to have all winter training at Cadishead Rec.

Parents say it has made training nights easier for those who have more than one child playing for a team as it means all the children are on one site and close at hand if needed.

“It has been a huge asset and meant that fitness and core strength training plans designed for each player can be followed and supervised in the gym. We have seen a vast improvement in fitness this season” Paul Elliott, Club Member

Quite a few of the other ladies teams in the Salford & Eccles league have passed comments on how smart the team looked with our team logo on. It has been a bit of a morale booster, you know how you feel with a new dress on. It put a positive happier feeling to the team and gave us pride in Cadishead” Marie Burgess, Ladies Team Captain

A grant of £9,680 from HDT made match days much more pleasurable for players, parents, supporters and club officials.

The funding paid for a complete refurbishment of the club house including 2 changing rooms, development of a family room with viewing areas so the games can be watched from inside during bad weather, a seating area and a serving hatch for refreshments on those better days.

The changes provide a much better environment for all concerned as the work has now brought the club up to a higher standard and makes it more welcoming.

“It is with admiration and fondness that I reflect on what our partnership with HDT has delivered to our community; the facilities now available to the children who represent the club, their parents and other visitors are second to none. We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved. We are delighted that Cadishead is now very much ‘on the map’. The development of the clubhouse is keeping with other noticeable community improvements. Collectively, this is making a real difference and having a positive impact on the lives of people who live within it” Anthony (Canis) Campbell, Chairman
