Working together to help others

HDT were delighted once again to support St Mary’s Primary School with a bike to enable one of their students to take part in a cycling proficiency test.

Keen to help whenever possible, HDT were pleased to be able to oblige the school with their request. Having several bikes available to us, that had previously been donated by local people for the CHAINS project we are involved in, HDT team member Sarah was able to engage the help of local volunteer Mike Givens to swiftly deliver a bike to the school. Unfortunately the bike was slightly too large, but was quickly swapped for one to suit his height.

Sarah commented: “Due to the restrictions within the last 20+ months our CHAINS project has sadly been put on hold. However, slowly but surely, we are getting the wheels turning to kick start the project once again. It’s rewarding and heartening to think we can work together with others to help in this way and put a smile on a young person’s face.”

It was wonderful to receive pictures from the school of the young boy receiving his bike and taking part in a cycling lesson with his class mates. We hope he will enjoy many hours of cycling, both on and off the school premises.

Happy cycling!
