Annual Dinner
Nearly a hundred people including local residents enjoyed our annual dinner, which took place on 29th April 2014 at the Salford Reds Stadium. Hosted by Neil McArthur, HDT’s founder and chairman, the aim of the evening was to celebrate the achievements made over the past 12 months, unveil our new look brand and look forward to more great things over the next year including the regeneration of Irlam Station.
HDT provided more than 61 grants worth a total of £149,907.01 to local community groups in Irlam, Cadishead and Rixton-with-Glazebrook during 2013/14 supporting a range of different projects across the four Areas of Focus: Community, Education, Recreation and Regeneration.
“It was a fantastic evening to share the accomplishments of the last year with the people who work so hard behind the scenes. They include our partners, the volunteers in our communities and of course the residents themselves. We are delighted to have revealed our new branding, which will take us forward into some very exciting projects for the next 12 months.” Neil McArthur, Chair and Founder of Hamilton Davies Trust
One of the projects which has benefited from a HDT grant this year, is the publication of the book to record the brave role the people of Irlam and Cadishead played in the Second World War.
Neil Drum and Pete Thomas, whose first book, ‘A District at War’ published in 2010 was about the involvement of Irlam and Cadishead in the First World War, launched the book with the support of HDT in March this year.
The funding enabled the books to be published and for copies to be sold at Hamilton Davies House, as well as Irlam and Cadishead libraries. HDT also hosted the launch event and provided promotional support for the book.
Author Neil Drum said:
“The support of Hamilton Davies Trust has enabled our research to be published, therefore permanently recording a part of the district’s history and making it available to a wide audience.”
