HDT Annual Event 2015
Over 130 people, including community group members and local volunteers from Irlam, Cadishead and Rixton-with-Glazebrook gathered with us to celebrate the achievements delivered across the area over the last 12 months; and to look forward to the exciting year ahead including new community websites and the launch of our public art project.
The event, held at the Black Swan in Hollins Green on 3rd June, gave us an opportunity to congratulate the community organisations, groups and residents who have worked tirelessly and passionately both independently and with us, to improve the area.
Guests were greeted with a glass of bubbles before being treated to entertainment from Cadishead Band, as well as some scrumptious food. Our Chairman, Neil McArthur spoke of the years’ achievements and the priorities for 2015/16 and this was followed by an Awards Ceremony presented by our General Manager Mandy Coleman to thank
and recognise some of the wonderful local people who sacrifice and deliver so much for the area.
Over the past 12 months, we are proud to have provided support in excess of £1.1m, including 51 grants to community organisations and regeneration projects. The largest one being our £300,000 contribution to the redevelopment of Irlam Station.
One of the larger projects we have supported this year was the construction of a new community clubhouse at Irlam FC. Following the demolition of their previous clubhouse after being deemed unfit for purpose, Irlam FC managed to source £100k funding from the Football Foundation on the basis that the club could find the same amount to match fund their new facility. That’s where we came in! We were happy to support this project and provide the necessary match funding for the new clubhouse which will officially open in summer 2015.
“Our largest and most significant project to date, the creation of a community clubhouse has been made possible by the help of HDT who provided the much needed match funding, alongside the Football Foundation. Words cannot do justice to the impact that HDT has had on us over the years, we have come on leaps and bounds because of their help!” Warren Dodd, Irlam FC
“Just to say a really big thank you for a really enjoyable evening last night, it is great to see all of the projects that HDT have supported over the last twelve months. Neil McArthur said that what had been achieved couldn’t have happened without the “army” of volunteers, but without the support of HDT there wouldn’t be the enthusiasm and drive from us volunteers to do the work we do. Without the financial support from HDT none of the projects would get off the ground, never mind succeed and grow.” Joyce and Pete
