Big Thanks to Local Litter Pickers
Did you know there is a local group of very kind people who litter pick in their free time across Irlam and Cadishead? They do this because they are passionate about the area and want to keep it looking at its best.
We wanted to recognise and thank this super group of people and so took them to 1923, the new café bistro at Irlam Station, for tea and homemade cake on 20th May.

Janet and John Morgan have enjoyed walking in the area for a long time and decided one day to keep plastic bags in their pockets so they could collect any litter they saw on their travels. Janet then met a lady called Kelly Wray at the community room at the High School one evening and the concept of the Litter Picking Group started from there. Kelly has since moved on and Janet now coordinates the team.
Do you have a few hours each month to spare to support the litter pickers and keep Irlam and Cadishead tidy?
Janet and the rest of the team would be delighted to hear from anyone: individuals, schools or other organisations who would like to help keep the district clear of litter.
Volunteers can help with the areas the group are currently focusing on or alternatively it would be great if you are interested in litter picking in the street or avenue where you live.

At present there are only four people picking litter in Irlam so this is the area that has the greatest need for more volunteers but all help will be gratefully received.
