Do you NEED HELP?

If you need to self-isolate (stay at home) for any length of time, do you have anyone that can help you with day to day tasks? This can be a member of your family, a neighbour or your friend.

Or, do you need help with:

  • Food shopping
  • Getting essential medication
  • Getting fuel (if you are on a pre-paid meter for gas or electric)
  • Looking after pets

Or are you a carer that needs help or advice?

If you answer yes to any of the above and you would like to speak to someone, call our Spirit of Salford Helpline on 0800 952 1000, Monday to Friday 8.30am – 6pm or complete the form online at https://www.salford.gov.uk/spiritofsalford

You can also request support through our online form here: www.salford.gov.uk/spiritofsalford

From here staff will be able to get you to the correct level of support, whatever that might be. Whether you need a little bit of help with your shopping, or you’re in complete crisis, this is a one-stop shop to get you what you need.

People from here will be supported by the huge range of services that need professional help, as well as voluntary help.

Our neighbourhood managers will be collating what’s needed in their areas, and sending their volunteer requirements over to Salford CVS for them to mobilise.

An example of how things will work:

💕Phone call to Spirit of Salford from resident

💕Whole household is self isolating, has no way to go out to buy food. Has 4 days of food left

💕Message relayed to neighbourhood manager

💕Neighbourhood manager receives messages about 10 people in their area who are in similar situations.

💕Neighbourhood manager asks Salford CVS to find volunteers to do this.

💕Salford CVS check the volunteer pool, contacts volunteers and passes them to neighbourhood manager

💕Neighbourhood manager to organise volunteers and tell them what to do.

💕Volunteers go out and do an amazing job.

Another example:

💕Phone call to Spirit of Salford from resident

💕Person lives alone, has complex needs and is self-isolating

💕Message relayed to Council services

💕Whole household is self-isolating, has no way to go out to buy food. Has 4 days of food leftill do and will be able to safely enter to provide proper level of care.

VOLUNTEERING

Things are changing very quickly, and advice from government is to now stay at home unless absolutely necessary. We need to minimise the number of people outside – staying home saves lives – so please wait until we contact you to support the network.

If you know of anyone who needs help and doesn’t have support, please go through Spirit of Salford either online or over the phone. This is the safest thing to do. We will get them help.

If you want to volunteer please sign up through the portal https://www.salfordcvs.co.uk/emergency-response-volunteer-registration-form and we will call on you when we need you. If you don’t get a call the best way for you to help is to stay home, and share positive messages online or over the phone, and keep in touch with those you know who are vulnerable.

If you want to, you can also donate financially here: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/salford4good

Some of our volunteers have already been out and doing great work, delivering things for the hospital, to homes and to food banks.
