Liverpool Road – Lower Irlam (Phase 2)

Covering the area between Fairhills Road and Station Road, the improvements will see narrowed roads and widened pavements as part of the plan.

This latest phase has recently started in March 2014 and covers the area between Fairhills Road and Station Road. The improvements will include:

• The road will be narrowed
• Pavements widened
• There will be shared road space for traffic and pedestrians
• A 20 mile an hour zone will be enforced on this section of Liverpool Road
• About 50 trees will be planted
• Street parking improved
• Embankments landscaped

Local businesses have also agreed to have trees planted outside the shops and Lidl have agreed to landscape their car park area that fronts onto Liverpool Road.

This phase has been funded by a number of sources including HDT as we are working in partnership on such a big project. Watch this space for updates.
