Rotary Club Partnership
Since the swinging sixties, The Rotary Club has been active in Irlam. Whether local or international causes we work together to help.
The Rotary Club has been active in Irlam for many years, since 1969 in fact. Made up of 25 men and women, it meets weekly to raise money for local causes and offer international aid.
Our relationship with the Rotary began back in 2004 with the Scout Building in Hollins Green (which you can read about in more detail in our Recreation section). It was the first project completed in partnership with Hamilton Davies Trust.
Using HDT funding, the Rotary Club was able to implement this project and give the Scouts their home back following a fire. The Rotary Club and HDT both have strong relationships within the community so working together just means we can achieve more.
We can engage more local people and businesses to work with us, so that projects can happen. Without HDT’s funding these projects could not take place.
In Bloom is an example of this. HDT provide funding and the Rotary Club manage the delivery of the project, which enhances the area and gives a much needed boost and sense of pride.
As part of the 2014 programme, local schools have been engaged to design their version of ‘Summer in Bloom’. The winning design is being featured on the Roland Daniels billboard on Liverpool Road, Cadishead. The Rotary Club raise money in a number of different ways and whatever they raise HDT provide the same amount, so there’s double to spend!
This year we match funded £8,000, which supported a lot of great projects! The Rotary covers most of Irlam, Cadishead and Rixton-with-Glazebrook. Their volunteers deliver projects like: Making Goals; paying for a football coach and helping with kit and equipment. We Salute You; funding the Scout leader and a new heating system. Go-Kids-Go; supporting the local Morris Dancing helpers and giving funding to help with transport.
