150yrs Anniversary Celebrations

Irlam Station and Glazebrook Station were originally opened on 1st September 1873.

To celebrate their 150yrs in operation, and their history, HDT have organised a free guided circular walk from Irlam Station to Glazebrook Station and back. To give a nod to the earlier days we will be donning a flat cap as we walk the 5 mile return route.

Once at Glazebrook Station there will be time for walkers to enjoy some light refreshments and live music from ‘Melody Moments’ and the ‘Dukes of Longbarn Ukele Group’.  There will also be plenty historical pictures and heritage information about the station and a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Returning to Irlam Station for 4pm, walkers will then be able to partake in some Bavarian food and drink should they wish and enjoy the lively tunes of an Oompah Band. The event is on until 7pm and there is plenty of time to explore the history of Irlam Station in the station’s Heritage Hub and surrounding station environs and Station Art Park.

To join in the walk simply turn up at Irlam Station for a 12 noon prompt start. For more information on the walk, and other events on the day, contact Suzanne Hindle on 07894 972928
